Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in protecting, promoting, and optimizing the health and abilities of individuals and families. This position focuses on the prevention of illness and injury, as well as alleviating suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses. The RN is responsible for adhering to all standards of practice and professional development as per the New York State Nurse Practice Act and other regulatory guidelines, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, serving as a primary or accountable nurse when designated.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management utilizing available resources.
• Administer medications safely and effectively according to hospital policies while maintaining a working knowledge of pharmacology.
• Contribute to productivity and resource utilization, including staffing, time management, and supply management.
• Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
• Engage actively in the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting initiatives and participating in peer reviews.
• Pursue professional development and continuing education, fulfilling all mandatory education requirements.
• Integrate nursing research and current evidence into daily practice.
• Provide support and mentorship to new employees and students.
• Assume responsibilities related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator roles when assigned.
• Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise grow.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Six (6) months to three (3) years of nursing (RN) experience.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Excellent judgment and critical thinking abilities.
• Understanding of organizational dynamics.
• Effective planning and time management skills.
• Proficient problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to quality and reliability.
• Knowledge of safety and risk management practices.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

Education

Required Education

• A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

Preferred Education

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific requirements as listed in the Compliance Matrix.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure

• CCRN Certification.
• Relevant skills certifications (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by the assigned unit.

Critical Care Float; 12-hour night shifts; 48 hours per week.
