Position: Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, OH

Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Overview:

Join our Critical Care Float Pool as a Registered Nurse, providing exceptional care in a dynamic environment. This position requires flexibility as nurses will float to various ICU units based on staffing and patient needs. Experience in a teaching hospital is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Float to a range of ICU units, including:
  • Neuro ICU
  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
  • Medical Intensive Care Units (MICU x2)
  • Cardiology/Diagnostics
  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients, including monitoring and managing complex medical conditions.
• Administer medications, including continuous IV sedatives, emergency medications, and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Assist in procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and external ventricular drain management.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required.
• Proficient in EPIC electronic health records system.
• Strong skills in IV therapy, telemetry, and ventilator management. Experience with arterial line management and blood product administration is preferred.

Patient Care Focus:

• Handle a patient ratio of 1:2 during shifts.
• Provide care for adult patients with a variety of diagnoses, including conditions related to chronic and acute renal failure, stroke management, and post-operative recovery.

Special Equipment:

• Experience with:
  • NIHSS (hardstop)
  • Temp pacer
  • External Ventricular Drain (EVD)
  • Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Ventilators

Expectation:

This role requires commitment to weekend coverage, with a minimum of every other weekend shifts. Orientation hours provided are 36.
