Unit Details

• High Risk/High Volume Labor and Delivery unit
• Average Daily Census: 15 patients
• Monthly Deliveries: 500-600
• Total Beds: 31
• Delivery Rooms: 31

Job Responsibilities

• Function as a Baby Nurse during delivery and provide ongoing care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum.
• Circulate during procedures and ensure effective newborn care including assessments and administration of Vitamin K injections.
• Handle medications such as Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate as required.
• Provide care for Midwifery clients, private OBs, and support for substance recovery in Adult Recovery Services.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience in Labor and Delivery is required; candidates with at least 3 years in high-risk environments may be considered.
• Current supervisory references are necessary.
• Must possess current certifications including BLS and NRP; ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate are preferred.
• Candidates must be able to circulate and provide newborn care, including assessments and required injections.

Additional Requirements

• Experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment is crucial.
• Willingness to float to related units (Postpartum/Antepartum) and sister facilities as needed.
• Pre-approved time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis; candidates must work every other weekend and holidays as needed.

Special Procedures

Experience in electronic fetal monitoring and adherence to AWHONN guidelines is essential for this position.
