Position Summary

The MRI Technologist is responsible for delivering high-quality imaging services in magnetic resonance imaging within an outpatient clinical environment. This role requires the technologist to work independently while ensuring timely and efficient services.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with physicians to perform MRI and MRA examinations, ensuring effective care and meaningful diagnostic information.
• Clinical and Technical Responsibilities:
  • Understand hospital, departmental, and examination protocols.
  • Possess a working knowledge of MRI equipment, including troubleshooting and identifying repair needs.
  • Conduct quality assurance on films and equipment.
  • Schedule examinations and manage daily appointments, including corrections and cancellations.
  • Ensure completion of exams, including Teleradiology submissions.
  • Administer contrast injections proficiently.
  • Implement infection control principles in all procedures.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills.
  • Screen and ensure safety for patients as appropriate; maintain annual MRI Safety Level 2 training.
  • Administer contrast dosage as appropriate.
  • Utilize system applications effectively.
  • Perform MRI and MRA studies accurately.
• Respond to patient needs while upholding patient confidentiality.
• Engage in professional development and growth through seminars, workshops, and affiliations to stay current with industry trends.
• Follow safety protocols to prevent injuries to self and others, including understanding MSDS, equipment usage, infection control, fire and disaster safety, and safe lifting techniques.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and labor agreements.
• Ensure courteous and efficient interaction with team members and support groups in line with organizational values.
• Conduct oneself professionally, adhering to appearance standards necessary for job functions.
• Handle additional responsibilities as assigned to meet organizational goals.

Work Environment

This position reports to the Imaging Director and collaborates closely with the Imaging team and other departments to provide comprehensive patient care.

Education & Experience

• Education:
  • Associate’s degree in MRI technology, radiography, or a related field, followed by an MRI tech training program.
• Certification:
  • Washington State Radiologic Technologists Certification, RT(R).
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT(R).
  • Registered with ARRT in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) and/or Computed Tomography (CT) preferred within six months of hire.
  • CPR certification for Healthcare Provider (HCP) level required within three months of hire.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in Radiology within a hospital setting.

Physical Requirements

• Occasional standing, walking, lifting/pushing up to 50 lbs, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, and pulling.
• Good reading eyesight.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for accurate information exchange with healthcare professionals, patients, and the public.

• Friday: 10:30 AM - 9:00 PM
• Saturday/Sunday: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM
• Monday: 10:30 AM - 9:00 PM
