Unit Information

This role is within a Medical Oncology unit featuring progressive care beds, primarily focusing on high-acuity patient care. The unit also accommodates pediatric patients, although such cases are infrequent and typically managed by permanent staff.

• Orthopedic Oncology
• Thoracic Oncology

Special Procedures/Unit Details

The unit comprises 36 beds with over 24 designated for PCU level of care. Candidates should possess high acuity patient experience, as the role emphasizes infection prevention protocols and patient safety measures.

Special Equipment

• B450 monitors with GE telemetry system
• Bladder Scanner
• Alaris pumps
• Stryker beds
• Continuous Bladder Irrigation
• PCA Pumps

Requirements

• Preferred 2 years of oncology experience, though not mandatory
• Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), NIH
• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry; 1:3 for PCU
• Willingness to float within units of the same or lower acuity level
• Previous travel experience is preferred

• Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• External CPAP/BIPAP management
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) administration
• ABGs interpretation
• Nasal Cannula administration
• Tracheostomy management
