Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the PCU unit, focusing on Acute Leukemia care. This position involves providing high-quality care for adult and geriatric patients diagnosed with newly diagnosed acute leukemia. Experience in acute care nursing is required.
Job Details
- Unit: 15 East, Acute Leukemia
- Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
- Rotation: 12 Hour Day/Night shifts may vary based on departmental needs.
- Staffing Ratios: Ideal is 1:4; may vary to 1:5.
- Weekends: Scheduled based on unit needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- Certification in BLS and ACLS is required.
- Experience in telemetry and the ability to interpret dysrhythmias is essential.
- Basic computer skills, with experience in computerized charting using EPIC.
Preferred Certifications
- ONS Chemotherapy Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
Skills Required
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation.
- Management of feeding tubes.
- IV therapy and phlebotomy expertise.
- Administration of blood products.
- Management of central and peripheral lines, including PICC lines.
- Experience with Rapid Response Teams.
Special Focus
The candidate will have a strong emphasis on:
- Infection prevention protocols
- Patient falls prevention strategies
