Job Description

We are seeking an experienced CVICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have robust clinical skills, a commitment to patient safety, and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of Critical Care experience.
• No first-time travelers; candidates must have prior travel experience.
• Experience in CVICU or open heart surgical care is mandatory.
• Skills must include:
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • ECMO and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) management
  • Post Cardiac Surgery care
  • Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
  • Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD/RVAD)
  • Blood Product Administration and Central Line management
  • Continuous IV sedation and titration of cardiac drips
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
  • Isolation Precautions and PPE
• Certifications required:
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIHSS

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Accessing and managing ports
• Titrating vasoactive drips
• Assisting with chest tube insertion and removal
• BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenance
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and ventilator management

Job Details

• Target Ratios: 1:1 during nights, 2:1 on weekends.
• Shift: Days, 06:45 AM - 07:15 PM.
• Available for either 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Contract lengths can range from 13 to 26 weeks.
• Floating may be required.
• Every other weekend is mandatory.

Patient Diagnoses and Special Procedures

This role will primarily focus on the Post Open Heart Recovery Unit. Additional cases include thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR procedures. The unit also supports CRRT, Impella, and IABP management.

Unit Systems

The unit utilizes SBAR communication, EPIC documentation, and PYXIS for medication management.

Scheduling and Orientation

Scheduling is self-managed. Please confirm availability for unit orientation and hospital-wide training during the first week, as attendance is required for classes each day.

Scrubs

Scrubs should be navy or white, or a combination of both.
