Registered Nurse (RN) - Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Women's Services team. The ideal candidate will have experience in Labor and Delivery as well as Couplet Care, demonstrating the ability to provide comprehensive care for both mothers and newborns.

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery and Couplet Care.
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings, including Antepartum and Level 1 Nursery.
  • Experience with IV start, circulating in the OR for C-sections, and postoperative recovery in PACU.
  • MUST have skills in Fetal Monitoring, IV Therapy, Medication Administration, and Neonatal Care.
  • Familiarity with pain management techniques, including epidural and PCA.
  • Certifications required: AWHONN Beginner/Intermediate, BCLS, FHM, NRP.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • Certification in ACLS and AWHONN Advanced is preferred.
  • Experience with triaging obstetrical patients is a plus.

Job Details

  • Target Ratios: L&D 1:1-2, Couplet Care 1:3 (average)
  • Unit has 15 rooms and 17 beds.
  • Contracts available for 13 weeks.
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts, typically from 18:45 to 07:15.
  • Weekend shifts required: 8 shifts per contract.

Patient Diagnoses

This is a low-risk Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit; however, care may also be provided to patients with varied risk levels.

Special Procedures and Unit Information

  • The unit has 8 LDRP rooms, 3 observation rooms, and 3 triage rooms.
  • Occasional service for female patients requiring gynecological surgeries, depending on census.

Special Equipment

All necessary equipment is available to ensure quality patient care.

Unit Orientation

A comprehensive orientation program will be provided, consisting of 24 hours of training, including general hospital orientation and hands-on unit training.

Schedule

Flexible scheduling options may be accommodated, pending prior approval.

Scrubs

Scrubs will be provided for staff. Standard color is blue.
