Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a role in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This position offers an opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in a setting that demands strong clinical skills and the ability to handle complex patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a patient case load typically with a ratio of 1:3-4.
• Monitor patient telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias.
• Administer and titrate vasoactive drips, including but not limited to Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, and Dobutamine.
• Provide comprehensive care for post rapid response team patients, including those with respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-operative complications.
• Utilize Rapid Response Teams effectively and adhere to established protocols for IV insulin and blood product administration.
• Perform central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care and management.
• Implement isolation precautions as required.
• Assist with non-invasive airway management and tracheostomy care.
• Provide care for patients of all ages, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in a similar unit.
• Strong background in telemetry, ICU stepdown, DOU, or related settings.
• Demonstrated experience managing arterial lines and administering vasoactive drips.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BCLS, and NIH.
• Ability to work effectively with a variety of medical technologies, including bedside telemetry monitors and Pyxis medication systems.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.

Scheduling and Availability

• Work shifts typically consist of 12-hour nights with either 36 or 48-hour schedules available.
• Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.
• 7 days maximum of requested time off (RTO) is allowed for auto offers.
• No block scheduling; shifts will be assigned accordingly.

Additional Information

Travelers and local candidates are welcomed. Floating to a sister ICCU unit may be required as needed. Hospital orientation is included on the first week of employment, and nurses must be available for training sessions each day during this period.
