Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care. This role involves planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care based on patient needs. The Registered Nurse identifies patient needs and prioritizes care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Additionally, the role includes developing, implementing, and coordinating an individualized plan of care for assigned patients through initial and ongoing assessments.

Key Responsibilities

• Initiate assessment based on patient problems or needs, physician medical diagnosis, and functional health framework.
• Perform therapeutic nursing interventions and manage patient care.
• Document care based on standards of practice, patient acuity, and clinical priorities.
• Advocate for evidence-based practice care standards and support the adoption of innovations in care delivery.
• Provide patient-centric care in alignment with the professional nursing practice model.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a related specialty.
• 2+ years of experience with Labor and Delivery is required.
• 4+ years of experience with Labor and Delivery is preferred.

Required Hard Skills

• Phlebotomy and IV insertion
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
• Vaginal exams
• Circulating in the operating room (OR) for cesarean sections
• Assistance with instrumental deliveries

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.
• Advanced AWHONN or EFM certification required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Certifications & Licensure

• BLS - AHA certification required.
• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license required.
• NRP certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred.

Schedule Notes

• Shift: Day shift.
• Hours per week: 36.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday requirement: No.
• Float requirement: No.

Required Soft Skills

Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills are essential.
