Description
This position requires a dedicated individual to work in a fast-paced emergency department environment, providing vital care and support to patients and their families.
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse works collaboratively with other health care team members, focusing on patient assessment, care plan implementation, and family education. This role demands the ability to evaluate patient needs and deliver timely, appropriate interventions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Montana Registered Nurse Licensure
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification
- American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course certification
- Competence and willingness to practice modified primary nursing
- 1 year of emergency nursing or critical care experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Essential Job Functions
- Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health (Assessment)
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues (Diagnosis)
- Identify expected outcomes for an individualized care plan
- Develop and implement a plan of care to attain expected outcomes
- Enhance the quality of nursing practice systematically
- Maintain relevant knowledge and competencies in nursing practices
- Evaluate one’s own nursing practice against professional standards and guidelines
- Contribute to the professional development of peers
- Collaborate with patients, families, and team members
- Integrate ethical provisions and research findings into practice
- Provide leadership within the professional practice setting
Stroke Competency
- Adhere to hospital policies related to care for patients with hyper acute and acute strokes
- Participate in four hours of stroke education annually
- Complete 6 hours of trauma-related education annually as required

Schedule Requirements
This role requires regular and sustained attendance, with the possibility of working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting (repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds)
- Walking, standing, sitting for extended periods
- Reaching above shoulder level and using fine finger movements continuously
- Cognitive skills for learning, remembering, and making timely decisions
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and various chemicals while maintaining safety procedures
Shift Information
Variable shifts including nights, days, weekends. Shifts are typically 3-12 hours.
Holiday coverage is required.
