Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through both diagnosis and treatment. The RN advocates for individuals and families, ensuring compliance with standards of practice and professional development as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and various nursing policies. The RN fosters a caring and healing environment focused on patient-centered care.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse when designated.
• Educate patients and families about health promotion and disease management using available resources.
• Utilize knowledge of pharmacology to safely administer medications in accordance with established policies.
• Share in the responsibility for effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, and supplies.
• Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
• Actively participate in and support the Nursing Shared Governance Model, including involvement in improvement initiatives and peer review practices.
• Engage in professional development and complete all mandatory education requirements.
• Integrate nursing research and current evidence into daily practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
• Adhere to organizational values and perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

Required Skills & Experience

• Six months to three years of RN experience.
• Zero to three years of management experience.
• Five or more years of direct patient care experience.
• Collaboration skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

• Strong organizational understanding.

• Problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to quality and reliability.
• Knowledge of safety and risk management principles.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.

Education

Required Education

• A graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Preferred Education

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Current RN License in New York State.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).

Preferred Certifications & Licensure

• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Relevant skills certification (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by the assigned unit.

This position consists of a 4x10 schedule with the requirement of being on-call one day per week and every third weekend.
