Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a highly skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position will involve a variety of responsibilities and pre-requisite qualifications that ensure seamless patient care in a high-paced operating room environment.

Shift Details

• Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 4x10s
• Hours: 8:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Holiday rotation required
• No weekend or on-call requirements

Job Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in compliance with established standards in an operating room setting.
• Participate in surgical procedures, functioning in both scrub and circulating roles.
• Maintain a fast turnover time of less than 20 minutes between cases, ensuring the effective use of operating room resources.
• Utilize advanced surgical equipment, including DaVinci robots and Stealth technology for neuro navigation.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide optimal patient outcomes.
• Expected average caseload of 35-50 cases per day.

Patient Population

The position will involve caring for various types of patients, including those undergoing:

• Cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures
• Neurosurgery
• Orthopedic trauma surgeries
• Robotic, gynecological, urological, general, and pediatric surgical procedures
• Transplant surgeries
• Limited volume ENT and plastic procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum of 24 months of current operating room experience required.
• Experience in circulating and operating room roles is required; scrub experience is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in cases involving general surgery, pediatric cases, trauma, and DaVinci robotics are essential.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records system within the last three years is required.
• Experience in a Level I trauma setting is highly preferred, while Level II trauma experience is required.
• No first-time travelers; candidates must have completed a travel assignment within the last 9 months.

Licensure and Certification

• Active Iowa state nursing license or compact/multistate license at the time of submission is mandatory.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
