Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical Oncology team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, particularly in medical-surgical care, with a preference for experience in oncology.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with hematologic malignancies and benign hematology conditions.
- Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manage oncologic emergencies.
- Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and implement treatment modalities.
- Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including Rapid Response Teams.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols and patient safety measures.
- Float to other medical-surgical and oncology units as needed.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.
- Previous medical-surgical nursing experience is required; hematology-oncology experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in MS/Tele nursing, including telemetry monitoring and management.
- Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy, including central and peripheral line management.
- Familiarity with feeding tube care and management.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Work Hours & Scheduling
This position requires a commitment to a rotating night shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week. Variable weekend scheduling may be required based on unit needs, and there are no set or blocked scheduling options available.
Additional Information
