Description
Job Details
This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Behavioral Health, focusing on inpatient mental health care. The role is part-time, requiring weekend availability with shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Target Ratios: 1:7
- Shift: Nights from 18:45 to 07:15
- Hours: 36-48 hours available
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Call Requirement: None
- Float Requirement: Possible floating to med-surg units as needed
Required Skills / Certifications / Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
- Experience in inpatient care, specifically in a locked unit setting
- Familiarity with a variety of mental health diagnoses, including but not limited to:
- Substance use and chemical dependency
- Anxiety disorders
- Bipolar disorder
- Schizophrenia and psychotic disorders
- Self-injurious and suicidal behaviors
- Medication administration experience (antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers)
- Certification in Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) required
Preferred Skills / Certifications / Experience
- Experience with congenital and developmental disorders
- Proficiency in IV starts and maintenance
Unit Details
The Behavioral Health Unit is organized across two floors. All team members rotate through both areas, ensuring a comprehensive approach to patient care. The unit is equipped with supportive staff, including psych techs responsible for monitoring patient well-being and performing vital checks.
Additional resources such as therapy teams operate seven days a week to support group activities, while nursing supervision is available both on-site and virtually.

Unit Systems
All medication documentation and communication are managed through EPIC, including Pyxis for medication administration and SBAR for handoff communication.
Orientation
The position includes a 32-hour orientation program, with hospital-wide training during the first week. The traveler must be available for each day of orientation.

Uniform color required: Navy blue.
