Job Summary

The Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic exams and procedures within the Ultrasound department efficiently, in accordance with physician orders. This role involves collaborating effectively with patients and physicians while fostering harmonious relationships with interdepartmental personnel.

Job Duties

• Conduct studies in a timely manner, utilizing downtime to assist colleagues as needed.
• Ensure daily checks of exam charges and the 5-day late list for the ultrasound department.
• Organize workload during high-demand periods to expedite patient care and effectively communicate with other technologists regarding pending exams and essential information.
• Assist physicians with radiology procedures.
• Promote positive departmental relationships by discussing concerns with supervisors and representing the department positively to coworkers and staff.
• Maintain supplies at minimal inventory levels and develop new strategies for supply utilization.
• Handle equipment safely and appropriately, following guidelines and policies. Maintain a clean work area and adhere to equipment cleaning protocols, ensuring surfaces are wiped down after shifts and between patients as needed.
• Respond promptly to on-call duties, ensuring arrival in the department within the established timeframe.
• Provide assistance in any radiology area as required and check in with coworkers during downtime for assistance needs.
• Adhere to attendance and punctuality policies.
• Comply with dress code and appearance standards.
• Participate in mandatory hospital and department in-services and meetings.
• Follow safety and infection control protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Current Equipment

• 3 Philips CVX Epiq machines
• 1 Philips Elite Epiq machine
• Vasculab ABI machine

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in the field is required.
• Registered Echo/Vascular Sonographer certification is required.
• Proficient in performing Echocardiograms with Definity Contrast.
• Competent in conducting Echo and Vascular studies including TTE Echocardiograms, TEE, stress echo, venous reflux exams, venous dopplers, carotid doppler, arterial doppler, ABI, pericardiocentesis, Thrombin injections, and vein mapping exams.
• Able to initiate intravenous (IV) lines.
• Experience with MediTech is required.

Work Schedule

This position offers a 40-hour guarantee with shifts from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Weekend requirements include every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
