Position Summary:

The Surgical Technologist serves as a scrub person in the operating room, working under the supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse to ensure a safe environment for surgical procedures. This role requires expertise in surgical techniques, human anatomy, and the application of tools and technologies to promote patient safety during invasive procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program
• American Heart Association BLS certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensure completion of case carts according to preference cards, accurately interpreting each card for the procurement of instruments and supplies.
• Maintain clear communication with operating room staff and sterile processing personnel to coordinate instrumental needs for both scheduled and unscheduled cases.
• Review daily schedules with the charge nurse and sterile processing coordinator to identify potential turnover delays and scheduling issues.
• Manage core communication responsibilities, delegating tasks as necessary and coordinating breaks and lunches with relevant team members.
• Act as a resource to the sterile processing and surgical services departments for the procurement of necessary items for surgical procedures.
• Coordinate with materials management regarding supply utilization and distribution.

Shift Information:

10 to 12-hour shifts depending on operational needs. Holiday coverage is required.

Minimum Years of Experience:

2 years of relevant experience is required.

Certifications / Requirements:

• BLS/BCLS certification
