Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) team. This role involves delivering safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care through the full nursing process.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and create individualized care plans.
• Administer direct patient care throughout the lifespan to promote optimal health outcomes.
• Provide clear and culturally sensitive education to patients and families, ensuring health literacy and successful transitions of care.
• Supervise and guide licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and other ancillary personnel.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and ongoing professional development.
• Float to other departments as needed, with appropriate orientation and training.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support hospital operations and patient needs.

General Qualifications

• Current RN license in New Mexico or valid Multi-State Compact (eNLC) license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (or equivalent).
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Education and clinical experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the LDRP department.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to provide compassionate, culturally competent care to patients of all ages.
• Strong team player with flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning.

Physical, Environmental & Psychological Considerations

• Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, body fluids, infectious diseases, and biohazardous materials.
• Work primarily occurs in a temperature-controlled hospital setting, with occasional exposure to varied sounds, odors, and emotionally challenging situations.
• Must be physically capable of lifting, positioning, and transferring patients using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment.
• Ability to work effectively under stress, respond calmly to emergencies, and maintain strong problem-solving and coping skills.
• Team-oriented, adaptable, and resilient in dynamic clinical situations.

Department-Specific Qualifications

• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications required.
• OPS Emergency Workshop and STABLE certification required within 12 months of hire.
• SAFER NM Technician certification preferred.
• Proficient in all aspects of perinatal care, labor support, delivery, and newborn assessment.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and sterile field maintenance.

Shift Information

This position requires 12-hour night shifts, with possible coverage on holidays and weekends.

Minimum Years of Experience

One year of relevant nursing experience is preferred.
