Job Description

The Interventional Radiology/Cardiology Radiologic Technologist plays a critical role in supporting diagnostic and interventional procedures through proficient operation of fluoroscopic imaging equipment, adherence to sterile techniques, and coordination of procedural workflows. This position involves collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Essential Job Functions

• Imaging Role:
  • Operate fluoroscopic and radiographic imaging systems during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Conduct image post-processing and ensure images are transmitted to PACS.
  • Maintain optimal image quality and verify equipment functionality prior to each case.
  • Adhere to ALARA principles and radiation safety protocols.
  • Document charges in the relevant system when necessary.
• Scrub Role:
  • Function as a scrub technologist, employing sterile techniques during procedures.
  • Prepare and organize necessary instruments and procedural trays.
  • Anticipate physician needs and respond promptly and accurately.
  • Exhibit familiarity with vascular anatomy and procedural flow.
  • Coordinate documentation of procedure times and activities with the monitor person.
• Monitoring Role:
  • Record hemodynamic data and procedural events as the primary monitor technologist.
  • Ensure that allergy considerations are documented accurately.
  • Troubleshoot physiological monitoring systems as required.
  • Communicate real-time findings to the procedural team for precise documentation.
• Peri-Procedure Duties:
  • Assist in patient preparation and positioning.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to verify critical clinical factors.
  • Conduct patient identification and timeout processes in alignment with institutional policies.
  • Support the team during sedation under the guidance of medical staff.
  • Manage patient condition monitoring and participate in necessary interventions.
• Department Support:
  • Assist in inventory management and supply organization.
  • Enhance room turnover efficiency through post-procedure cleanup and room preparation.
  • Perform routine equipment checks to ensure operational readiness.
  • Document any equipment malfunctions and facilitate service requests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of medical devices.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Required: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Science/Medical Imaging.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Required: Current state licensure and ARRT certification.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification (or within 6 months of hire).
  • Certifications in areas of clinical specialty are preferred.
• Experience:
  • Required: At least one year of experience in Interventional Radiology and/or Cath Lab.
  • Preferred: Three years in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab experience.
• Other:
  • Ability to provide patient care while respecting cultural, physical, and psychological differences.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse patient conditions is essential.
