We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse for a position in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care nursing, particularly with neurological patients, and be proficient in advanced monitoring techniques.

Required Skills and Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a critical care setting
• Experience with ICP monitoring, ventilator management, and telemetry
• Current certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH

Job Details

• Staffing Ratios: 2:1; occasionally 3:1
• Contract Length: 13 weeks or longer, with end date through 2/27
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Float Requirement: Yes, to other ICU and intermediate units
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Patient Population

This position is within a comprehensive stroke center, focused on caring for Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit patients. Experience with stroke management, ICP management, seizure management, and critical care patient management is crucial, including the ability to titrate medications and manage invasive equipment.

Special Procedures and Equipment

• Management of EVDs (External Ventricular Drains)
• Ventilator management
• Zoll temperature management system (Arctic Sun)
• PCA (Patient-Controlled Analgesia) management

Unit Systems

• Medication: Pyxis
• Documentation: EPIC
• Communication: SBAR

Orientation

• Orientation duration: 24 hours

Scrubs

Scrubs are not provided; navy blue or white scrubs, or a combination of both, are required.

Additional Information

All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to commencement in this specialty.
