As a pivotal member of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery contributes clinical knowledge and skills in the effective management and provision of care to patients during the critical stages of childbirth and postpartum. This role requires a commitment to addressing the needs of both mothers and newborns, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and safety.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in Labor & Delivery.
• Float to postpartum units as needed, ensuring smooth transitions and continuity of care.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Monitor maternal and fetal health, utilizing high acuity skills.
• Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Schedule Details

• 12-hour night shifts, totaling 36 hours per week.
• Every third weekend requirement.
• No on-call duties associated with this position.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery, with high-risk and high-acuity experience.
• Experience in larger, high-volume delivery centers with 200-300 deliveries per month within the past year.
• Circulating experience is required; scrub experience is preferred.
• Must be comfortable floating to postpartum 1-2 shifts per week.
• Certification from the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) for fetal monitoring is required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is required.
• Currently active Iowa nursing license is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (AHA or ARC) are required.

Orientation

Orientation sessions are scheduled on 10/26 and 11/9.
