We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in Pre/Post-Op care to join our healthcare team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on patient recovery and surgical support.

Position Overview

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with a flexible start time between 0900-1100
• No weekends or on-call duties required
• Participate in holiday rotation, with a requirement to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming Winter holidays

Unit Information

• Bed Size: 28
• Patient Ratios: 1:3
• Patient Population: Adults and Pediatric, inpatient and outpatient
• Common Procedures: Myringotomy, Tonsillectomy, Septoplasty, Orthopedic surgeries (knee, hip, shoulder arthroplasties), Hysterectomy, Thoracotomy, Gastric Bypass, Ureteroscopy, AAA repair, Breast reconstruction, General surgeries (cholecystectomy, appendectomy)
• Drips and Titrations: None
• Scrub Color: Hospital provided

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 months of Pre/Post-Op or same-day surgery experience required
• No first-time travelers; must have at least one travel contract in Pre/Post-Op, same-day surgery, or PACU within the last 15 months
• Experience with EPIC EMR is mandatory
• Current pediatric care experience is required
• Professional reference from a charge/supervisor/nurse manager/director/CNO/COO within the last 24 months is preferred
• Active Iowa/IA license or compact/multistate nursing license is required
• AHA or ARC/AMERICAN RED CROSS Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required

Notes

This position is primarily focused on Phase II recovery, with some pre-op responsibilities as needed. Candidates must be flexible and ready to adapt to the unit's needs.
