Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Scheduling Details

• Shift Hours: 7a-7p alternating with 7p-7a
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On Call Requirement: None
• Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted
• Local Nurses: Not accepted within a 75-mile radius for RNs, local LPNs are accepted

Charting

EPIC experience is required; knowledge of Non-Epic Charting (CPN/GE Centricity) is preferred.

Required License and Certifications

• Must have an active New York Single State RN license. (New York is not part of the Compact Nursing License)
• Required Certifications:
  • OB-ACLS or ACLS
  • BLS
  • EFM Certification
  • NRP

Required Clinical Skills

• Assist with vaginal deliveries
• Circulate for C-sections
• Recover patients post C-section
• Administer Magnesium Sulfate therapy
• Administer Pitocin (oxytocin), Terbutaline
• Conduct APGAR scoring
• Manage Baby Nurse functions (“Baby Catcher”)
• Perform ID/Security Banding
• Utilize Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation
• Foley catheter insertion and management
• Care for Fundus/lochia/perineum
• Manage Postpartum Hemorrhage and Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension
• Conduct Non-Stress Tests (NST)
• Utilize External Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM)
• Place and calibrate Intrauterine Pressure Catheter (IUPC)

Unit Details

This unit accepts all pregnant patients at any gestational age, and triage evaluates all pregnant patients, as well as all postpartum patients within 6 weeks of delivery.

The unit is equipped with GE Fetal & Telemetry Monitors, “Monica” wireless fetal monitoring, Neopuff, and Draeger newborn warmers.

Floating

Nurses may be required to float within their skill set.

Scrub Color

Scrubs will be provided by the facility.
