Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting. This role involves providing high-quality patient care for those with complex medical conditions, particularly in neuro trauma and orthopedic care.

Shift Details

• Shifts: Nights, 4x12s (48 hours/week, with a 36-hour option available)
• Weekend Requirements: Every third weekend or as needed based on staffing and census
• Holiday Rotation: Must be available to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming Winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Floating: Required to float across multiple locations within the region

Unit Information

• Bed Size: 25 beds
• Patient Types: Heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, orthopedic
• RN Ratios: 1:5-6
• Drips: Heparin, PCA's, 3% Sodium (no titration)
• Specialty Equipment: Telemetry, chest tubes, Airvo

Qualifications

• Minimum of 24 months of Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience in a hospital setting is required.
• Experience in neurology/neurosurgery and orthopedic care is required.
• Trauma care experience is highly preferred.
• Expertise with EPIC electronic medical records is required.
• Completion of at least one prior travel assignment in the past 12 months is required.
• Experience with drips including Heparin and PCA, as well as telemetry, EKG/strip reading, is required.
• A de-escalation certificate is preferred (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted).
• Trauma Level I experience is highly preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

• Current Iowa or compact multistate nursing license is required.
• American Heart Association or ARC/AMERICAN RED CROSS ACLS certification is required.
• American Heart Association or ARC/AMERICAN RED CROSS BLS certification is required.
• NIHSS certification is preferred and can be obtained during onboarding.
