Job Description

We are seeking qualified candidates for a Registered Nurse position specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) care. This position requires expertise in managing diverse patient needs, specifically focusing on pulmonary conditions.

Shift Details

• Night shifts: 4 shifts of 12 hours, totaling 48 hours per week (36 hours per week available upon request).
• Holiday rotation required; contractors must be available to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming Winter holidays unless the unit is closed.
• Weekend requirements: every other weekend or every third weekend, depending on staffing and census.

Unit Information

• Patient types: Primarily pulmonary and medical-surgical patients.
• Bed size: 23 beds.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-6.
• Common therapies: Heparin drips.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 24 months of recent experience in Medical-Surgical nursing is required.
• Experience with pulmonary patient care is essential.
• Familiarity with caring for ventilated patients, including bi-pap and trach care, is highly preferred.
• Experience caring for COVID-19 positive patients may be necessary.
• Level II trauma experience is required; Level I trauma experience is highly preferred.
• First-time travelers will be considered if they meet the 2+ years of Med Surg experience requirement.

Licensure and Certifications

• Active Iowa nursing license or a compact/multistate license is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
