Shift Details
- Shift: Nights 7 PM - 7 AM
- Work Schedule: 36 hours per week with holiday rotation
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
- Call Duty: Required during low census from 11 PM - 7 AM
Job Description
This position involves providing exceptional nursing care to pediatric patients across various specialties, including Hematology/Oncology, Medical-Surgical, and other pediatric specialties. The Registered Nurse will work in a dynamic environment and may float to the Pediatric Emergency Department to assist with general pediatric patients boarding in the ED.
Unit Details
- Patient Types: Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Medical-Surgical, and various Pediatric specialties
- Floating: Possible across NICU, general floor, and PICU
- Nurse-Patient Ratios: 1:2 to 1:4
- Bed Size: 14
Qualifications
- Minimum of 24 months of Pediatric and/or Oncology nursing experience required
- Previous Pediatric experience within the last 18 months required
- Experience in Hematology/Oncology required
- Willingness to float to the ED to care for inpatient holds is essential
- Experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC, within the last 12 months required
- Completion of at least one travel contract within the past 18 months is required
- Certification with the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses required
Licensing and Certification Requirements
- Active Iowa nursing license or a compact multistate nursing license required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification from AHA required
- APHON certification required
