Description
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. This position focuses on providing compassionate and comprehensive care in a high-risk Labor and Delivery unit, where you will assist in the care of patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and recovery phases.
- Conduct assessments, monitor fetal heart rates, and provide education to expectant mothers.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure safe delivery and continuity of care.
- Document patient care in the electronic health record system.
- Assist in managing high-risk pregnancies and emergencies when they arise.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska.
- 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery preferred but first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced, NRP.
- Charge experience is preferred or a willingness to train as a charge nurse is encouraged.
Work Schedule
- Night shifts available - either 3x12 hours or 4x12 hours.
- Every other weekend commitment is required.
- Guaranteed hours of 60 hours per 2 weeks, with potential for cancellation of one 12-hour shift per 2 weeks.
Unit Information
The Labor and Delivery unit consists of:
- 10 OB Triage Rooms
- 10 Labor, Delivery, Recovery Rooms
- 3 Operating Room suites
- 4 Post Anesthesia Care Units
Average daily deliveries are around 7, with the capacity to accommodate up to 14 patients, including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases.
