Staff Nurse Specialty Care

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses. Advocacy in the care of individuals and families is central to this role. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, relevant policies, and ethical guidelines. The RN fosters a caring and healing environment, emphasizing patient-centered care.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, acting as the primary nurse or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management utilizing available resources.
• Administer medications safely, following established pharmacology practices and organizational policies.
• Contribute to productivity and effective resource utilization in staffing, time management, supplies, and services.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and established policies.
• Engage in and support the Nursing Shared Governance Model through participation in councils and improvement initiatives.
• Commit to professional development, continuing education, and fulfilling all mandatory training requirements.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practices into daily work.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and nursing students.
• Assume responsibilities of Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator as assigned.
• Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise grow.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.

Skills & Experience:

Required Skills:

• Experience: 6 months to 3 years of nursing (RN) experience.
• Collaboration and effective communication (both verbal and written).
• Strong judgement and critical thinking abilities.
• Organizational skills and understanding of planning and time management.
• Problem-solving aptitude and commitment to quality and reliability.
• Attention to safety and risk management practices.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting is advantageous.

Education:

Required Education:

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.

Certifications & Licensure:

Required Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse License in the state.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).

Preferred Certifications:

• CCRN Certification.
• Relevant skills certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as needed per unit assignment.

Schedule Notes:

This position requires flexibility to work critical care float shifts, including day shifts at a frequency of 12 days or 48 hours per week. Critical care experience is required.
