Job Description

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the traveler contributes professional and clinical knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients.

Shift Notes

• Start time: 1900
• Available shifts: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Floating to other Med/Surg Telemetry units is required

Weekend Requirements

Every other weekend is required.

On Call Requirements

No on-call is required.

Unit Details

• Types of patients/surgeries include: prostatectomy, mastectomy, abdominal surgeries, and thyroidectomy, among others.
• Common drips administered include Heparin.
• This is a general medical/surgical floor focused on caring for post-operative patients requiring overnight stays.

Orientation Information

Orientation begins on 12/7.

Winter Holiday Requirements

The traveler will be required to work 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day). There is a limit of one day off request between November 25-29 and December 23-27 for all travelers.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry experience is required.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• The traveler may be required to float within the same discipline across various locations.

Certification Requirements

• Active BLS certification is required (AHA preferred, ARC or US Military certificates also accepted).
• Active NIHSS certification is required.

Employee Separation Policy

Any past employee who has worked as a traveler within the float pool cannot work travel in another market for the next 12 months.

Dress Code

The dress code is navy blue uniforms.

Local Radius Rule

All candidates must be located at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible.
