Our 24/7 Emergency Department is a busy, board-certified physician-staffed rural ED, renovated in 2026, handling over 15,000 patient visits annually. This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing emergency care team while enjoying the scenic benefits of a beautiful region.

About the Role

As an Emergency Department RN, you will deliver direct patient care across a variety of emergency situations. You will rapidly assess patient needs, collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members, and adjust care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Successful candidates will demonstrate adaptability, proactivity, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced rural emergency setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, Prioritize, and Deliver Emergency Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and emergencies, utilizing strong clinical judgment and prioritization skills.
• Collaborate Across the Care Team: Work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, EMS personnel, and inpatient teams to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Respond Effectively in a Fast-Paced Environment: Manage multiple patient needs simultaneously, quickly adapt to changing clinical situations, and maintain high-quality care under pressure.
• Promote Safe, Accurate, and Efficient Care: Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes while adhering to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based emergency nursing practices.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN License in Vermont or Compact Multi-State RN License
• Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications
• Minimum of three years of Emergency Department RN experience
• TNCC certification preferred
• Experience caring for a broad range of patient populations and emergency conditions
• Familiarity with Meditech preferred; candidates must demonstrate the ability to learn quickly
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound clinical judgment, and function effectively in a rural emergency department environment

Traveler Information

This position offers the chance to work in a rural community known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities. As an independent, not-for-profit critical access hospital, we provide primary and preventive care, surgical and specialty services, inpatient and outpatient care, and physician-staffed emergency services 24 hours a day.

Please note that the area has limited public transportation options and the nearest commercial airport is approximately two hours away. Reliable personal transportation is required, and while local housing resources are available, travelers are responsible for securing their own accommodations.

Credentialing Requirements

All necessary credentialing documentation must be submitted at least five business days before the scheduled start date. Any delays in credentialing may result in a postponed start date. Additionally, a flu vaccination is mandatory for all travelers, with no exceptions.

Shift Information

Flex shifts with three 12-hour shifts per week are required. Holiday coverage is also mandatory.
