Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Description

The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for screening, evaluating, and rehabilitating patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders. This role involves developing appropriate plans of care while adhering to all regulatory and clinical practice standards.

Responsibilities

• Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
• Assess patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly in clinical records, complying with regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Evaluate treatment outcomes for effectiveness and modify services based on patient evaluations; make referrals as needed.
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers related to speech disorders.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
• Compile comprehensive discharge summaries of services rendered per regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Document all required information in the electronic documentation system, maintaining patient records according to company policy.
• Record treatment minutes for services rendered, in compliance with all regulatory and clinical mandates.
• Participate in necessary meetings, including but not limited to patient care conferences and rehabilitation meetings.
• Engage in required trainings, in-services, and conferences.
• Assist in obtaining necessary Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or supplies as per regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Supervise and support Clinical Fellows and student Speech-Language Pathologists.
• Adhere to ASHA and state-required practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.
• Maintain active ASHA and state licensure.

Work Schedule

This position offers a flexible schedule, Monday through Friday, with 8-hour shifts. While start times may vary, therapists are expected to begin work before 6 AM and no later than 10 AM. Weekend work is not typically required, except to make up hours for holidays that fall within the weekday schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings is required.
• Current Missouri State License is necessary.
• Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
• New graduates are welcome to apply if they have Level II experience, rather than just Level I observation experience.
