Staff Nurse Emergency Department

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing patient health and abilities. The RN delivers care by diagnosing and treating human responses, preventing illness and injury, and advocating for individuals and families. The RN ensures compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in alignment with regulatory and organizational policies, fostering a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, serving as the primary or accountable nurse as determined by unit assignment.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management using available resources.
• Apply knowledge of pharmacology and safely administer medications according to facility policies.
• Participate in resource utilization, including staffing, time management, and supply management.
• Ensure compliance with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Engage actively in the Nursing Shared Governance Model through participation in unit councils and improvement initiatives.
• Pursue continuous professional development and complete all mandatory educational requirements.
• Incorporate nursing research and evidence-based practices into daily care.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
• Perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.
• Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

Education:

Required Education: Associate's degree from an accredited school of Nursing.

Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Current Registered Nurse License from the state.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Additional unit-specific requirements as per the Compliance Matrix.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.

Languages:

• English: Read, Write, Speak

Schedule:

This position requires a 36-hour workweek with shifts from 7 am to 7 pm, covering every other weekend. Holiday coverage is also required.

Additional Experience Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years of current experience working in an emergency department is required, along with prior experience in trauma, STEMI, stroke, and sepsis management.
