Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care in a Special Care Nursery/NICU setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patients’ needs.
• Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Develops, implements, and coordinates individualized plans of care through initial and ongoing assessments.
• Initiates assessments based on patients’ problems or needs, the physician’s medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework.
• Performs therapeutic nursing interventions and manages the care of patients.
• Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and clinical priorities.
• Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards while supporting the adoption of innovative care delivery methods.
• Provides patient-centric care in alignment with the professional nursing practice model.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Schedule

Shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, requiring work every other weekend and potential holiday shifts. The position includes three 12-hour shifts per week, with no on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• Minimum of three years of experience in mother-baby care.
• Demonstrated experience in caring for newborns, particularly managing higher acuity infants of 32 weeks and above.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Certifications & Licensure

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
• Current New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license required.

Skills

Competent in managing higher acuity infants and stabilizing infants under 32 weeks gestation.
