Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response. This role involves advocacy in the care of individuals and families, and adherence to all standards of practice and professional development according to the Nurse Practice Act, specific policies, and ethical guidelines. The RN fosters a caring and healing environment focused on patient-centered care.

Job Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a designated group of patients, serving as the primary or accountable nurse.
• Educates patients and their families on health promotion and disease management using available resources.
• Applies knowledge of pharmacology to safely administer medications in compliance with policies.
• Shares responsibility for productivity and efficient resource utilization, including staffing and time management.
• Complies with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Actively participates in the Nursing Shared Governance Model and supports improvement initiatives.
• Engages in professional development and meets continuing education requirements.
• Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
• Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
• Adheres to established values and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Six months to three years of nursing (RN) experience.
• Zero to three years of management experience.
• Five or more years of direct nursing experience.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Excellent judgment and critical thinking abilities.
• Organizational understanding and effective planning skills.
• Proficient in problem-solving and quality improvement.
• Commitment to reliability and safety/risk management.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

Education

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure

• Current RN license in New York State.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific requirements as per compliance guidelines.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure

• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Relevant skills certification (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by assigned unit.

Schedule Notes

This position involves working in a Float Pool setting, with day shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM, totaling 36 hours per week. BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
