We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Physical Therapist (PT) to join the team at Berkeley Charter Education Association District. The Physical Therapist will provide school-based therapy services to support students in developing the physical skills necessary to participate successfully in educational activities and maximize their independence within the school environment.
The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children, collaborates effectively with educators and families, and is committed to helping students achieve their educational and developmental goals through individualized, evidence-based physical therapy interventions.
Schedule

Shift: Days
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM (5 x 7.5-hour shifts)

Responsibilities

Evaluate students and develop individualized physical therapy treatment plans based on educational needs
Provide direct physical therapy services in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Assess and treat students with mobility, balance, strength, coordination, posture, and gross motor impairments
Recommend and train students in the use of adaptive equipment, mobility devices, and positioning techniques
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, parents, and other members of the educational team to support student success
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development, progress reporting, and therapy recommendations
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with school district, state, and federal guidelines
Educate school staff and families on therapeutic exercises, positioning, mobility strategies, and safe transfer techniques
Maintain a safe, organized, and supportive therapy environment
Deliver compassionate, student-centered care that promotes participation, independence, and access to the educational environment

Requirements

Required: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program
Required: Active Physical Therapist (PT) license in the state of practice or ability to obtain
Preferred: Previous experience in a school-based or pediatric setting
Knowledge of IEPs, IDEA regulations, and school-based therapy practices is preferred
Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to supporting students in achieving their educational and developmental goals
