Description
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide high-quality occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will help patients develop and maintain the skills needed to perform daily activities, improve functional independence, and achieve their individualized therapy goals.
Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, coordination, balance, mobility, and functional skills.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and other functional tasks.
- Teach patients appropriate adaptive techniques and use of assistive equipment.
- Monitor patient progress and response to treatment and communicate observations to the supervising OT.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safety techniques, and strategies to promote independence.
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with the OT and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Maintain a safe and supportive treatment environment.
- Modify activities as appropriate based on patient needs and within the established plan of care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Active COTA license in the applicable state.
- Previous COTA experience preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to document accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to work independently while following the direction of the supervising OT.
