Certified Surgical Technician - Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston, MA

Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 12 weeks (standard), with options for 20 weeks


Job Details

  • Start Dates: Requesting 9/15 or 10/14 start
  • Shift Options:
    • 4x10 or 4x12 hour shifts, Day or Evening rotations
    • Evening shifts:
      • 4x10: 1pm - 11pm
      • 4x12: 11am - 11pm
    • Day shifts:
      • 4x10: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 7am - 5:30pm; Wed 9am - 7:30pm
      • 4x12: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 7am - 7:30pm; Wed 9am - 9:30pm
  • Weekend and Holiday Coverage:
    • Includes at least 2 short calls every 4 weeks and weekends
    • Weekend shifts for 4x10 are 12 hours, with 8 or 10 hour shifts during the same week to meet contracted hours
    • Holiday Return to Office (RTO) is limited
  • Rotation Plan: Travelers will try evening shifts initially; if skills align with needs, evenings may become primary shift
  • Night Shifts: Includes 2 weeks of night shifts per contract

Required Credentials & Compliance

  • Professional Certifications:
    • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required (NBSTSA or NCCT only)
  • Licenses:
    • Primary source verification of professional license/certification required within 30 days of start
    • MA Conditional Licenses not accepted
  • Health & Immunizations:
    • N95 Fit Test within 365 days of start, updated annually (no religious exemptions)
    • MMR vaccination or proof of immunity (measles, mumps, rubella)
    • TB screening (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start, updated if >6 month break
    • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions
    • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start
    • Strongly preferred: Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity/declination
    • Tdap vaccine preferred (within 10 years)
  • Background Checks & Verifications:
    • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start, including 7-year address/employment/school history
    • Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start
    • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start
    • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start
    • Social Security Number trace for past 7 years
    • Education verification (highest level achieved)
  • Additional Documentation:
    • Recent color photo (professional headshot, no glasses, plain background)
    • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city & state
    • Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above)
    • Skills checklist required for submission
    • Confirmation of assignment/POI form required upon acceptance and if start date changes
    • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (part of fit test)
    • Candidate submission coversheet required for submission

Notes

  • If positive TB test, documentation of a negative chest x-ray after the positive test is required
  • Fit testing cannot be done onsite except for updates on Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket if assignment is extended
  • No religious or medical exemptions for vaccines or fit testing
  • All documentation must be current and updated as specified to maintain compliance
