Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Amarillo, Texas
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Step-down Unit)
- Shift: 3x12 hour nights
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year
- Travel Experience: Not required
- Epic Experience: Required within the last 6 months
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 holidays if needed
- Travel Radius: No locals; must be willing to travel within a 50-mile radius
- Contract Length: 13 weeks

Licenses & Certifications
- Current State RN License (Primary source online verification required)
- NURSYS Verification for RN
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - as applicable
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable (expires annually)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
- Tech Cert Verification - National (as applicable)
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start (includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
- HHS/OIG check upon hire
- Education verification (highest level of education must be verified)
- Fingerprinting (time sensitive for New Mexico placements only; not applicable here)
Competency Exams & Training
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Color Blind Testing (online acceptable)
- Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA required)
- Core Parts I, II, III testing for subcontractors (annual requirement)
Facility Specific Documents
- Clear headshot photo for badge
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, additional documentation required
- TB Questionnaire within 90 days of start (annual renewal if positive)
- Measles (Rubeola) immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Mumps immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Rubella immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters accepted post titer
- Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, etc.)
- Additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed; failure results in cancellation)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 Vaccination (Dose 1 and fully vaccinated) or approved medical/religious exemption required; declinations not accepted
Additional Requirements
- I9 form (for direct candidates)
- Driver’s License or State ID
- E-Verify compliance (for direct candidates)

- Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
- 7-year work history verification
- References: 2 professional references for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care (within 2 years of start)
