Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Amarillo, Texas

Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Step-down Unit)
  • Shift: 3x12 hour nights
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year
  • Travel Experience: Not required
  • Epic Experience: Required within the last 6 months
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 holidays if needed
  • Travel Radius: No locals; must be willing to travel within a 50-mile radius
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Credentials & Documentation

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current State RN License (Primary source online verification required)
  • NURSYS Verification for RN
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - as applicable
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable (expires annually)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
  • Tech Cert Verification - National (as applicable)

Background Checks & Verifications

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start (includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
  • HHS/OIG check upon hire
  • Education verification (highest level of education must be verified)
  • Fingerprinting (time sensitive for New Mexico placements only; not applicable here)

Competency Exams & Training

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online acceptable)
  • Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA required)
  • Core Parts I, II, III testing for subcontractors (annual requirement)

Facility Specific Documents

  • Clear headshot photo for badge

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, additional documentation required
  • TB Questionnaire within 90 days of start (annual renewal if positive)
  • Measles (Rubeola) immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Mumps immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Rubella immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters accepted post titer
  • Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, etc.)
  • Additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed; failure results in cancellation)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination (Dose 1 and fully vaccinated) or approved medical/religious exemption required; declinations not accepted

Additional Requirements

  • I9 form (for direct candidates)
  • Driver’s License or State ID
  • E-Verify compliance (for direct candidates)
  • Complete employment application/resume
  • Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
  • 7-year work history verification
  • References: 2 professional references for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care (within 2 years of start)

This position requires compliance with all listed certifications, background checks, health documents, and competency exams prior to start.
