Description
Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts; Extended Weekends (EW) required
- Primary Unit: Labor & Delivery (L&D) with possible assignments in NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics
- Floating: May float between PICU, NICU, Pediatrics, and IU Health North Hospital
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 18 months recent experience in NICU or PICU
- Trauma 1 experience in a children’s hospital within the last year
- L&D experience required
- Equipment Experience: Servo I, Servo U, Hamilton G5 ventilators
Licensure & Certifications
- Indiana State License must be in hand to submit
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NBRC RRT
- NRP (AHA NRP only; required if placed in L&D, can be obtained after offer)
- Preferred Certification: PALS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
Important Facility Policies
- Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at IU Health facilities except:
- Perioperative/OR RNs
- Allied health travelers
- Ambulatory RNs (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
Required Documents & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Must include 7 years of residence/work history
- SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- Education verification (new travelers only)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (not required for Techs or RRTs)
- Unit competency exam
- Color blind testing (Ishihara or equivalent, 100% minimum score)
- Facility-Specific Requirements:
- Completion of IU Health mandatory RRT modules (21 modules, deadline prior to orientation) for RRT candidates
- Completion of facility-specific compliance, confidentiality, orientation, and policy forms (time sensitive)
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment verified within 2 years, with appropriate supervisory titles
- Skills checklist within 12 months and annually thereafter
Additional Notes
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport required (clear copy)
- Education verification and transcripts/diplomas must be official and clear copies
- On-site fit testing available only as a last resort with limitations
- IU Health requires strict adherence to all documentation and compliance deadlines
