Description

Travel RN Opportunity – Orthopedics Unit

Location: Asheville, North Carolina


Facility Overview

  • Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, Level III neonatal intensive care unit
  • Region’s only children’s hospital with pediatric emergency room and 30 pediatric subspecialists
  • Busiest robotic surgery program in the Carolinas
  • Only open heart and interventional cardiology program in the region
  • Recognized for high clinical quality and patient safety, including Magnet® Designation

Contract Details

  • Length: 13 weeks
  • Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information – J6 Orthopedics

  • Beds: 32 individual rooms
  • Staffing:
    • Day Shift: 1 charge RN, 6 RNs, 1-2 LPNs, 3 PCTs, 1 HUC
    • Night Shift: 1 charge RN, 5 RNs, 1-2 LPNs, 2 PCTs, 1 HUC
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Day Shift: 5:1 (stretch 6:1)
    • Night Shift: 6:1 (stretch 7:1)
  • Equipment Used: Walkers, bedside commode, bladder scanners, CPM, Sky lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Lift, Maxi Move, vital sign machine, hover mat, bair hugger, wheelchairs
  • EMR System: Cerner

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Must Have:
    • North Carolina RN License
    • BLS Certification (required)
  • Preferred:
    • Hospital experience
    • Orthopedics experience

Typical Procedures on Unit

  • Dressing changes, suture/staple removal
  • Foley catheter care
  • NG tube management
  • Wound VAC maintenance and removal

Work Environment & Culture

  • Team player with ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Caring approach, treating patients like family

Additional Information

  • Floating to other Med-Surg units may be required
  • Dress Code:
    • RNs wear navy scrubs
    • PCTs wear galaxy blue
    • LPNs wear sage green
  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend required
  • On-call requirements may apply
