Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry Unit)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
- Shift: 0620 - 1900 (Day shift)
- Hours: 36 hours per week, nights
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Work 2 out of 3 winter holidays plus other holidays during contract
- On-call: None
- Patient Population:
- Unit has telemetry; telemetry skills required
- Facility performs gender affirmation surgery; comfort with this patient population preferred but not required
- May come into contact with COVID-19 patients
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 or 1:6
- Float Requirement: Must float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Scrubs: Navy blue (not provided)
- Preferred Experience: Cerner electronic health record system
Required Certifications & Exams
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section (mandatory)
- Other certifications as required by unit (may include ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM depending on unit)
Compliance & Health Requirements
- Flu vaccine required (facility policy)
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask use
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within last year (or as per history)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Immunization documentation required for:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite)
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification for highest degree required by position
- Employment history verification: minimum 2 years in past 7 years, including 1 travel assignment
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years experience in last 3 years
- Valid state nursing license required prior to start
- I9 and E-Verify attestation required
- Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed prior to hire date
- Photo for badge with specific requirements (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
Additional Notes
- Must be comfortable working with diverse patient populations including those undergoing gender affirmation surgery
- Must be able to pass competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency
- Facility requires annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual
- Must be willing to float to other units of similar or lower acuity as needed
