Description

Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years

  • Number of Beds: 14
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 holidays if needed

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN (Advanced, Beginner, or Intermediate)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
  • State License Verification (Primary source online verification required)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)

Required Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online version acceptable)
  • Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Core Parts I, II, III (for subcontractors; annual completion required)

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
  • HHS/OIG check upon hire
  • Education verification (must verify highest level of education)
  • Transcript/Diploma may be accepted temporarily if education verification is delayed
  • Work history verification for 7 years
  • Employment application/resume required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
  • References: 2 professional references for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care (within 2 years)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire within 90 days of start (for positive TB results)
  • Measles (Rubeola) immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Mumps immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Rubella immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters accepted post titer
  • Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)

Additional Notes

  • Travelers residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for this contract.
  • Fingerprinting is required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here).
  • Clear headshot photo required for badge.
  • Holiday work requirement applies.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery RNs with travel experience who meet the certification and health requirements listed above and are willing to work night shifts and holidays as needed.
