Position Details

Unit Information

Unit Name: PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
Number of Beds: 40
Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2 patients
Staffing:
- Hospital Unit Coordinator (HUC) available 7:30 AM – 4 PM
- 4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) assigned to specific pods daily
Equipment: Standard PACU equipment
Documentation System: Cerner
Scheduling: 6-week schedules; 3 call shifts required within each 6-week period
Floating Policy: Float within peri-anesthesia areas (Endoscopy, PreOp, Phase II)
Scrub Color: Surgical green or navy

Required Certifications & Skills

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (required)
Licenses: Registered Nurse License
Experience: Trauma and pediatric experience preferred
Additional Skills: NIH Stroke Scale experience, ventilator monitoring

Procedures & Responsibilities

Care for post-anesthesia patients with a focus on trauma and pediatrics
Perform lab draws, catheterizations, and patient transport (supported by PCTs)
Adhere to unit-specific policies and guidelines
