Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work primarily in Intermediate Care (IMC) with 36-hour shifts, day/night float to ICU
  • Float required to ICU and possibly Med Surg as needed
  • Patient ratio: 1:4
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotations required
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Scrubs color: Ceil Blue (not provided)
  • Facility requires all employees to have the flu vaccine

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience
  • Skills: Cardiac Telemetry, Cerner, IV therapy/Phlebotomy, CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident), Respiratory Care
  • Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Overall score ≥ 80%
    • 100% on lethal rhythms section

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for MS/Tele and ICU units)

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score ≥ 80%, within 3 years)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias Dysrhythmia Basics A exam, updated annually for travel nurses)
  • Color Blind Testing (online or in-person acceptable)
  • General Competency Exam (score ≥ 80%, within 3 years)

Background & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • E-Verify and I9 documentation required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • Valid state nursing license required prior to start
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
  • Physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease (annual)
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (Sept-Mar)
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask use during patient encounters

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
  • Negative TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray if history of positive TB
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • 36-hour shifts, day/night float schedule
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Float between IMC and ICU, possible Med Surg float
  • Patient ratio 1:4

Additional Notes

  • Two positive supervisory references required, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
  • Facility-specific modules and orientation required before start

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with cardiac telemetry and critical care skills who are comfortable floating between IMC and ICU settings and meeting strict competency and certification requirements.
