Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Facility Type: Pediatric Hospital (Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Magnet, Teaching Hospital)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours, open to 48 hours (no overtime until after 48 hours)
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs (no floating to sister facilities)
  • Block Schedule: Accommodated
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year, preferably pediatrics
  • First-time Travelers: Case-by-case basis; must have at least 3 years recent experience
  • Preferred Case Types: NICU/PICU
  • License Required: District of Columbia license mandatory
  • Certifications Required:
    • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Special Requirements: Preference for pediatric therapists but open to experienced therapists from other disciplines if qualified

Facility Highlights

  • 323 inpatient staffed beds, including 70 dedicated to Neonatal ICU
  • Uses Cerner for charting
  • Scrub color: Any, no logos, must be child-friendly
  • Parking: Offsite parking required during day/night rotation; onsite parking available for nights only

Required Documentation & Compliance

Licensure & Certifications

  • Valid DC professional license (RRT) with primary source verification
  • National certifications: RRT, BLS, PALS, ACLS (if applicable), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), CHEMO (if applicable)
  • Background checks including SSN trace, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Pass/fail medication calculation exam (for nursing roles)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 30 days of start (including latex allergy info)
  • Fit test for N95 or PAPR within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with physician documentation if previously positive)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with 2 vaccines or positive quantitative titer
    • Varicella with 2 vaccines or positive quantitative titer
    • Hepatitis B series and quantitative titer or declination form
  • 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including marijuana)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccination status requested but not required

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Photo for badge (strict guidelines on photo quality and background)
  • Completion of required training modules prior to start (including COVID-19 vaccine training modules)
  • Emergency contact information
  • TB exposure/PPD conversion record if applicable
  • Completion of Workramp LMS modules (except for certain clinical roles)

Other

  • References: 2 professional references dated within past 2 years (cannot be pending)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required

Additional Notes

  • Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: Maximum 1 week off; if a full week off is taken, an additional week must be added to the contract
  • Facility is child-focused; scrubs and behavior must be appropriate for pediatric environment
