Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (SICU RN) - Florence, South Carolina

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (SICU RN)
  • Location: Florence, South Carolina
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM) with holiday rotation
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Yes, must float within scope to like units/sister facilities (agency floats first)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year required (preferably 2 years)
  • First-time Travelers: Not accepted
  • Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start
  • Certifications Required:
    • ACLS (AHA or ARC only)
    • BLS (AHA or ARC only)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Special Experience: Cardiac and Neuro experience required

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Block Schedule: Approval can be requested but not guaranteed
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Local Travelers: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrub Color: Royal blue
  • Parking: Free

Required Documentation & Compliance

Background Checks

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Must include: SSN Trace, SC Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, International searches
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification not required for this facility

Certifications & Licenses

  • ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Certification must be current (no certificates expiring within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS verification required for RN licenses
  • SC RN license processing time: 3-5 weeks (longer for international education)
  • Walk-through (temporary) license option available if no background hits
  • IV Therapy certification required only for select LPNs (not applicable here)
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) as required by unit/job description

Health & Immunizations

  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination form required
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • COVID-19 vaccinations highly preferred but not required; declination form must be completed if not vaccinated
  • Respirator medical clearance required annually for patient-facing staff

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of orientation modules (approx. 4 hours for Florence)
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system prior to start
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge required
  • Signed agreements: Assignment Acknowledgment, Code of Conduct, Employee Confidentiality, Systems User Agreement, HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement
  • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months required
  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Work history verification not required for this facility

This position is ideal for experienced SICU RNs with cardiac and neuro skills who hold a valid SC or Compact RN license and are comfortable working night shifts with weekend and holiday rotations in a travel/contract role.
