Occupational Therapist - Home Health

Location: Newton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide occupational therapy services to patients in their homes with cognitive and/or physical impairments due to injury, disease, disability, or other causes.
  • Patient age range: birth to over 100 years.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and allied health professionals to assess needs and coordinate care.
  • Manage technical, environmental, and financial resources related to patient care.
  • Travel required within the geographic area of the home health service.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year certified home care experience.
  • Occupational Therapist licensure and registration with the Massachusetts Board of Registration.
  • At least 2 years of experience in acute care, rehab, or homecare as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Proficiency with various computer software; familiarity with handheld patient care devices preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing situations.

Required Credentials & Health Compliance

  • Professional license/certification verification (primary source) within 30 days of start.
  • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state details.
  • Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above in skillset).
  • Skills checklist specific to the role.
  • Candidate submission coversheet.

Onboarding Requirements (must be current and/or updated as specified)

  • Color photo (professional headshot, no selfies or filters).
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check within 45 days of start.
  • N95 Fit Test within 365 days, updated annually (no religious exemptions).
  • Immunizations:
    • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or proof of immunity.
    • Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions.
    • TB test (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start, updated if >6 month break.
    • Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 365 days, updated if >6 month break.
  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start, including Massachusetts CORI and national sex offender registry checks, updated as required.
  • Education verification through background check company.
  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if fit test required).
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days of start and annually.
  • Confirmation of assignment form upon acceptance and for any extensions.

Additional Information

  • Travel within the home health geographic area is required.
  • Must be able to work with diverse patient populations and adapt to changing work environments.

This position offers an opportunity to provide critical home-based occupational therapy services within a well-established healthcare system in Massachusetts.
