Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Columbus, Ohio

Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Location: Columbus, Ohio
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Patient Ratios: Not available
  • Unit Floating: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • V Certification
  • Skills:
    • IV start and general nursing skills (IVs, monitoring, labs, medication administration, patient education)
    • Experience with telemetry patient monitoring
  • Testing: Must be able to pass the telemetry test
  • Electronic Health Record: EPIC experience required

Competencies and Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
  • Unit-specific competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for all RNs within 1 year of start (annual renewal required except for certain exclusions)
  • Remediation process available for EKG exam if needed

Background and Credentialing

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start (including FBI and BCI fingerprinting)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification required (accredited nursing program)
  • Transcript or diploma verification required
  • Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending

Certifications and Licenses

  • State nursing license verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification for RNs
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption allowed)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required but strongly recommended

Documentation and Compliance

  • Employment application including education details
  • Skills checklist required
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and acknowledgment required (updated annually)
  • Ethics and compliance policies review and acknowledgment required annually
  • Proof of fingerprint completion required (in-state and out-of-state candidates have specific instructions)

This position requires a well-qualified RN with telemetry experience, strong clinical skills, and the ability to meet comprehensive credentialing, health, and compliance requirements.
