Description

Travel RN Opportunity - New Mexico (Alamogordo)

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shifts: Multiple shifts available
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Work Type: Full Time

Licenses & Certifications Required

  • Current RN License in New Mexico or compact license
  • Current BLS certification from AHA
  • Current ACLS certification from AHA
  • Current PALS certification from AHA
  • Current TNCC certification

Schedule & Requirements

  • Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend days worked per 6 weeks
  • On Call Requirement: 2 on-call shifts per 6 weeks (for emergencies or extra shifts)
  • Floating: May be asked but unlikely due to census
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
  • Blocked scheduling accommodated

Experience & Education

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty (RN)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Orientation & Competency

  • New hires must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
  • Precepted by a trained staff member with competency validations, including Emergency Department-specific validation
  • Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency or specific orientation program
  • Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory

  • Practice independently in a similar clinical setting
  • Provide routine and complex nursing care
  • Manage clinical contingencies and long-range care plans
  • Delegate and assign tasks appropriately to other care providers
  • Meet OneCHRISTUS Competencies (Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders)
  • Provide nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
  • Administer medications and treatments, monitor side effects and effectiveness
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
