Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Dayton, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Experience Required:
    • Minimum 1 year dedicated CVICU experience
    • Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
  • License:
    • No Ohio license required to apply, but must obtain before contract start
  • Schedule:
    • 36 or 48 hour shifts
    • Must work every other holiday (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
    • Must be available every other weekend/holiday
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Targeted 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio on 36-bed units
  • Unit:
    • CVICU with telemetry, drips, ventilators
    • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Floating:
    • Floating may be required within the hospital system (within ~15 miles radius)
    • Floating assignments will be medically appropriate and support nursing care teams
  • Overtime:
    • Paid after 48 hours on 48-hour contracts
  • Travel Experience:
    • Preferred but not required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Electronic Health Record:
    • EPIC experience required

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be able to read and interpret EKG strips)
  • Pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting
  • Experience with arterial lines, ventilators, drips, sheaths, dialysis, and drawing ABGs
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: must pass within 1 year or complete within 72 hours of contract signing (3 attempts max)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 2 years
  • Other certifications as applicable (see below)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • I-9 and E-Verify attestation forms
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education verification (Primary source for RN licensure)
  • Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness to work
  • Drug screening (9 or 10 panel) within 12 months, including marijuana panel (medical marijuana use not accepted)
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • TB test or chest X-ray (annual questionnaire if past positive)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines preferred)
    • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines preferred)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, immune titer, or declination
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (seasonal requirement)
  • Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years (1 must be manager/supervisor/charge RN)
  • Current resume/application
  • Skills checklist updated within 1 year
  • State license primary source verification (Ohio license required before start)
  • NURSYS verification for RN licensure
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required within 12 months prior to start and updated annually)

Important Notes

  • Premier Health reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
  • Agreement may be canceled with 2 weeks' notice without penalty
  • Travelers are not eligible for Premier Health employee incentives
  • Orientation and Return to Offer (RTO) requests must be submitted with initial application; no RTO added after offer
  • RTO approval is at manager’s discretion
